Fujitsu M2010 review

Fujitsu introduces 10'' mini-notebook, with processor Atom and WSVGA resolution. Connectivity includes gigabit ethernet.

The cover is glossy from both sides, base is dull excluding part with power switch, which has the same glossiness as the cover has. What is not so great about the plastic is the color - notebook is assembled from white plastics and just colored so if you will scratch the color then you will see white scratches to the plastic under surface.

Maximum angle of display is 135 degrees, the notebook is solid anought, does not bent and the cover is solid as well.

On the right side you can see USB, VGA and cooling system output. Right side has got SD/MMC reader, audio connectors, two USB and LAN. HDMI or ExpressCard are missing.

Dimensions 260x205x30-40mm and weight 1, 31kg are very good parameters for transportation. 60W power adapter has got 324g and is not big.

HW parameters

Chipset Intel 945GSE and CPU Intel Atom N280 with frequency 1,66 GHz (512kB L2 cache, 667MHz FSB)is ectremely low power consuming (TDP 2,5 W) and the price is good as well.

Performance is OK for common office work, but if you will have to run anything that needs moe performance you will clearly see the low speed of the CPU.

There is only one slot filled with DDR2-800 1 GB. notebook comes with Windows XP and therefore 1GB is clearly enough.

Display and grpahics

10“ display is WSVGA (1024x600). The surface is glossy, but powerfull LED backlight allows you to work even on the sun. Other parameters are jst average.

GPU is onboard Intel GMA950. The performance is low and is suitable just for common work.

Cooling system

The cooling system should be more silent. You will not hear the cooler in some room with common noise, but if you will be alone in a quite place you can hear the cooler clearly.

Battery

Battery has got capacity 53 Wh. With this battery the notebook can run 5 hours 30 minutes. It is not a bad number but other Atom models can run almost double time.

Conclusion

This notebook is just common piece on the market. Only interesting thing is just the gigabit LAN, but the cooler is louder than you can get with other Atom models and the battery life is nothing special
